PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
Included in HVCC’s 2009-2013 Master Facilities Plan, the New Science Center is a $45 million interdisciplinary science building certified LEED® Silver under the US Green Building Council’s LEED rating system.
Sustainable design features include a natural daylight strategy using the siting of the building and custom window sunshades, a heat recovery HVAC system, roof rainwater capture and reuse, and high performance building envelope.
The New Science Center project involved 120,000 SF of new construction, and now serves as a showcase for the college’s institution-wide sustainability initiatives. The new four-story building houses 25 laboratories, 11 classrooms, 60 offices, conference and student centers and a green house.
